Job Summary:
The Coding Education Lead position oversees coding education program to ensure that the hospital receives appropriate reimbursement & is in compliance with industry standards & guidelines. This position is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert in coding Hospital Services (Inpatient and Outpatient).
The Coding Education Lead coordinates the daily activities and oversight for all new coders in training on Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient record types, in accordance with coding convention, standards, and rules to meet the needs for timely billing. The Coding Education Lead collaborates with the Coding Market Manager in the development of an annual education plan for all acute care coders.
The Coding Education Lead supports the Coding Market Manager by proactively managing (including corresponding communications and escalation paths) significant issues in coding / records management, status of projects, barriers and successes. The Coding Education Lead will work closely with other members of the HIM Coding Market Team in addressing issues related to accurate/timely coding, documentation, unbilled management and denials. This position will often work with multi-disciplinary teams in addressing issues related to coding and billing operations (as applicable).
